On December 6, 2024, the "Textile Rapid Employment Train" program, jointly launched by JPMorgan Chase and the Textile Industry Research Institute, held a grand kickoff ceremony at the Taipei International Convention Center, officially entering its fourth phase. The program aims to provide over 400 participants with essential green skills, training, and internship opportunities through collaboration with eight universities and 50 employers in the textile industry over the next two years.
As the global push for a net-zero carbon strategy by 2050 accelerates, the demand for skilled professionals is becoming increasingly urgent. The textile industry, as a crucial part of the global supply chain, faces the dual challenges of achieving environmental sustainability and digital transformation. The core planning of the "Textile Rapid Employment Train" program focuses on five major themes: smart textiles, green sustainability, information security, digital applications, and technology management, with the goal of cultivating interdisciplinary professionals equipped with practical skills to drive the industry's transition toward sustainability and digitization.
The event invited several industry and academic leaders to engage in discussions about the sustainable development of the textile industry. Huang Chen-Yi, Chairman of TMMFA (Taiwan Man-Made Fiber Industries Association), emphasized that to achieve the 2050 net-zero carbon goal, the industry must promote a circular economy and implement ESG principles, which requires the involvement of more young talents with green skills.
Finally, representatives from the eight participating universities shared their insights on topics such as "Sustainable Innovation," "Digital Applications," and "Cross-Domain Technology," unanimously recognizing the importance of sustainable education and interdisciplinary learning for students' future career development. In the presence of industry, academia, and representatives from various textile associations, COO Wang led everyone in a commitment to advancing toward a future of technology and sustainability.
